Step Seal Advantages

Step seal is a combination of stepped PTFE slip ring and O-ring for one-way sealing, mostly used in hydraulic cylinder piston rods. Its advantages are concentrated in five aspects: friction resistance, pressure resistance, wear resistance, sealing, and adaptability to operating conditions.

• Ultra-low friction, no creep (most prominent advantage)

The slip ring is made of PTFE-filled material, with an extremely low coefficient of friction. Static friction is approximately equal to dynamic friction, resulting in low starting resistance.

• High pressure resistance and strong extrusion resistance

The stepped flange structure significantly improves the anti-extrusion performance, making it less likely to be squeezed into the groove gap under high pressure, thus reducing seal damage;

The O-ring continuously provides pre-tightness compensation; the higher the pressure, the tighter the seal, resulting in a better self-pressurizing sealing effect.

三、Wear-resistant, durable, and long service life

The O-ring's elasticity continuously compensates for PTFE slip ring wear, maintaining a seal even with slight wear, significantly extending replacement cycles; it is resistant to particulate impurities and less prone to scratches and failure compared to pure rubber seals.

四、High and low temperature resistance and wide media compatibility

PTFE is chemically inert and is compatible with mineral hydraulic oil, emulsions, water, some acids and alkalis, and gases. It only needs to be matched with the corresponding O-ring to be compatible with most media.

五、Excellent sealing performance with minimal leakage.

It integrates static and dynamic sealing, achieving zero static leakage and minimal dynamic leakage, meeting the leak-free requirements of precision hydraulic and environmental protection equipment; its single-acting, one-way sealing structure is specifically designed for external leakage scenarios of the piston rod, and its oil leakage prevention effect under high pressure is superior to that of ordinary oil seals.
