It is widely used in hydraulic cylinders, seismic dampers, motors, pumps, valves, pressure vessels, and many other applications.
The remarkable versatility of the Cap Seal stems from its unique composite structure consisting of a "metal spring + high-performance polymer." This structure comprises two parts: the outer sealing lip is made from various materials such as PTFE, modified filled PTFE, PEEK, UPE, PCTFE, and more; the inner part houses a stainless steel spring that acts as a relentless support, continuously providing stable elastic force. It is this combination that endows the Cap Seal with performance surpassing that of conventional seals.
Its sealing principle is straightforward: the spring acts as a continuous pressure compensation source, always maintaining a certain preload. Like a hidden jack, the deeper it is compressed, the stronger the supporting force it accumulates, thereby uniformly and consistently pressing the sealing lip against the mating surface. Under low-pressure or no-pressure conditions, the spring's compensatory force ensures tight contact of the lip, preventing leakage. When the medium pressure rises, the pressure enters the spring groove and takes over the compensation function from the spring, achieving an effect of "higher pressure, tighter seal." More importantly, even if the sealing lip undergoes wear or changes due to clearance variations, the spring automatically compensates for the gap. Therefore, whether used for rotary, reciprocating, or static sealing applications, the Cap Seal reliably adapts, significantly extending equipment life and reducing maintenance costs.
So, what are the notable advantages of this outstanding product?
First, its diverse material selection grants it an extremely wide temperature range, enabling long-term use from -200°C to +325°C.
Second, it offers full-operating-condition sealing capability, dynamically compensating for clearance caused by wear, eccentricity, and thermal expansion/contraction, truly achieving "higher pressure, tighter seal." Its performance in low-temperature and vacuum environments far exceeds that of ordinary seals.
Additionally, Cap Seals feature a low coefficient of friction, excellent corrosion resistance, and high wear resistance. They operate smoothly and steadily, effectively avoiding common issues such as sticking, fracture, and resultant leakage often seen in conventional seals.
In terms of chemical resistance, depending on the material formulation, Cap Seals can withstand over 1,800 types of basic chemical media, including various strong acids, strong alkalis, oxidizers, organic solvents, salts, gases, and their pure or standard mixtures, demonstrating outstanding corrosion resistance.
Furthermore, the service life of Cap Seals significantly surpasses that of conventional products. Under harsh conditions, ordinary seals may last only months, days, or even hours, while Cap Seals can achieve a lifespan several times or even dozens of times longer. For instance, one Cap Seal product we delivered had a design life requirement of 70 years and, after professional testing and verification, was confirmed to fully meet this long-term reliability standard.
