Methods to extend the life of seals

From the perspective of system engineering, measures should be taken comprehensively from four aspects: design, manufacturing, use, and maintenance to extend the service life of seals. At the same time, corresponding measures should be taken for the accessories of seals (such as oil, shafts, fasteners, etc.).

1. Improve materials and structures. Practice has shown that seals made of materials with good performance and reasonable structures are effective and durable.

2. Select suitable seals. Select suitable seals according to the motion characteristics, oil type, oil pressure, rotation, and stability of the installed seal parts.

3. Correct assembly. Before installing the seal, check the curvature of the shaft. For shafts with excessive curvature, correct or replace them, etc.

4. Check the oil quality regularly. Check the oil quality regularly, replace inferior oil in time, clean and replace oil filter elements regularly, so that the oil remains clean, which is conducive to extending the service life of oil seals.

5. Prevent vibration and impact. Check the fasteners of the hydraulic system regularly and tighten them in time.

6. Others. For example, strictly follow the installation and operation requirements, maintain appropriate oil pressure, and carefully detect the roughness of the sealed parts, etc.
