D type sealing ring is a sealing ring with an open D shape in cross section, but it is essentially an O-type sealing ring with a square base. This eliminates the possibility of twisting and spiral failure. The friction force is equivalent to that of an O-ring, but the cross-section deforms under high pressure, and a back-up ring must be used to adapt to the high pressure. D-type sealing rings can provide good sealing effects for reciprocating motion (dynamic seals, such as piston rod seals for hydraulics and pneumatics) or other applications (working environments) where O-type sealing rings are not satisfactory.

Materials: Now commonly used materials are NBR (butadiene rubber) and FKM (fluorine rubber). NBR is used in ordinary working conditions and is mainly oil-proof and waterproof; FKM is mainly used in working conditions with higher temperatures (<160°C).
