SHOWER DOOR GUIDE FIX SOLUTION

by:DMS Seals     2020-06-06
You have a shower with sliding glass doors on the edge of the tub.The cheap nylon plastic door suddenly broke down.Reinstalling with the new plastic door rails is not an option because drilling holes in the bathtub to screw in does not match the plastic door rails made today.
You can\'t afford to remodel the bathroom (which most of us can\'t do), it\'s impossible to place a shower tie rod with curtains due to limited space and configuration. You need to fix this door but no one can help you. This work requires more than two hands, as the glass door swings constantly as you try to stick the plastic pieces back to the original guide.
How can you fix this when you need more than two hands and a very limited budget?Instead of trying to make a square-Peg/circular hole scene trying to make another door guide with wrong size by drilling a new set of holes into the door guide to modify the mold of another building configuration (it\'s easy to crack the new guide) we recommend trying to glue your broken door guide together.First of all, you need to determine the correct way to solve the problem. If the entire plastic piece has fallen off, you need to make sure that you have the proper curing time to dry it once you stick it on it.
The most important thing is that you need the right adhesive. You will want the adhesive to be waterproof/waterproof (this part of the shower is exposed to water ).You need it to withstand a temperature of 105 degrees (humans can tolerate the temperature of a hot shower ).
If you don\'t get an adhesive with this temperature compatibility then steam, moisture and heat can compromise the integrity of the adhesive. If you choose to use this adhesive to clean the shower, you must make sure that this adhesive can withstand harsh chemicals/cleaners.Otherwise, the chemicals in the cleaner (especially the solvent type) can actually break down the glue/adhesive every time you clean, and you will end up using the cracked shower guide again.
Even if you don\'t use harsh chemicals to cleane.Clean the bathroom surface using natural substances such as Simple Green or plain vinegar, vodka or lemon juice) you still need to make sure that at least the adhesive can resist the chemicals used by the city in your tap water. One of the reasons the shower door guide was broken from the start was that the integrity of cheap nylon was not able to withstand the chemicals from the shower water or the detergent you used.
Nylon is a very thin plastic.
The better plastic is polypropylene, but it is very rare to try to find a shower door guide or any type of shower building material made of polypropylene. If you are lucky enough to find it, go find it.But if not, and you have the above dilemma, you need to find another solution.
Once you find the right adhesive, it\'s time to fix the shower door guide. We recommend finding a plastic suitable for outdoor use and dry and transparent plastic. Why?If it\'s used outdoors, think about the temperature capability, you know it can withstand three digits and rain! Most of the plastics outside are useful plastics such as chairs, tables, things that need to be strong to handle use and elements.
If you are trying to do it yourself, one of the main problems you will encounter is that the shower door pops up all the time (the reason you need the tour guide first), since it is the tour guide that is broken, how do you make the door perform well when you wait for the glue to dry?Just two pieces of transparent tape. You don\'t need to do this trick with something heavier than this. When you fix the plastic track in place, tying the door together will prevent the door from jumping out.
You don\'t have to wait too long if you buy the right adhesive. You want something to do quickly so that you can at least get a part of the track to hold on long enough so you can walk away, let it heal on the glue you buy within the specified time.Make sure to both sides (where you are gluing and the broken part ).
Put it there until the glue becomes tacky enough to stick to the other piece of the track and there is no risk of slowly falling back into the tub. After a few hours, reinforce with more adhesive in the broken part of the plastic and dry it.Let it be treated overnight if you can, and you will now have a fixed shower door guide.
Be sure to remove the clear tape and carefully slide your door back into place. You will find that it is unlikely that you will break the sliding door again if you make sure it stays in place. While most people think the door can slide in any way (and they think so too) if you make sure that the door closest to the inside of the tub stays on the right side while the other is on the right side, then you will reduce stress and daily stress left on the actual door guide.
If you keep your door like this, instead of closing the other side with another door, you won\'t create an opportunity to move the door in a way that guides the door outward. This is a quick, easy and economical way to solve the problem. In a perfect world we all love to remodel our bathroom or install all the new shower doors and so on, but it\'s not always an option.
We hope this will help.
