how to replace refrigerator freezer door gasket: 6 steps

by:DMS Seals     2020-07-05
Your refrigerator door gasket seals cold air inside the insulated to prevent food from spoiling.
This rubber seal is often distorted over the years when you open and close the door.
For example, if you reach out along the freezer door gasket, you will feel the cold air escaping from the small gap.
It is time to replace the gasket of the freezer door.
Due to restrictions on transportation and packaging, the chilled door gas is usually distorted.
If you are trying to install a twisted gasket on the door, the resulting seal will still accelerate the gap, allowing the cold air to escape.
There are three ways to help you eliminate these problems: 1.
Fill a bathtub with some hot water and place the washer in it for up to 30 minutes. 2.
Heat the rubber instead of water using a hair dryer and even place the gasket in the clothes dryer for 10 minutes.
Without compromising the integrity of the gasket, heat is the key to eliminating kinks. 3.
Place the treated gasket on the table and carefully stretch the rubber to the height required for the freezing door, including a square or rectangular shape.
Allow it to go flat before you need to install it.
Unplug your refrigerator or simply turn off the temperature control.
When you repair, allow the refrigerator to run, the door will put pressure on the motor, which may cause the component to fail.
Take all the food out of the freezer door.
Put them in the fridge for the time being to keep them cool.
Find the door washer and lift the edge up.
You should see many screws or bolts that hold the gasket on the door.
Remove all fasteners using a nut drive or screwdriver and carefully place them in the Cup.
You don\'t want to lose the fasteners under the refrigerator.
When you slowly remove the old washer from the door with the other hand, use one hand to put pressure on the free sinner panel.
Pull the inner panel down and discard the old washer.
Clean the exposed door surface with a wet towel if needed.
Align the inner panel with the fastener holes of the frozen door and loosely attach four or five bolts or screws using an electric tool.
You want the panel to have some flexibility on the new washers around.
Do not tighten the fasteners.
Carefully stretch the gasket around the inner panel so it can enter the Channel.
In order to stick to the refrigerator lip, the magnetic steel of the gasket needs to be facing the outside.
Install the remaining fasteners loosely while keeping the gasket not bent under the tightening pressure.
Do not remove the screws;
Use clutch settings on tools.
Test the door to check for clearance.
Adjust the tightness of the screw and use the tape on the washer to perfectly form the refrigerator lip.
Plug in the fridge or open the fridge.
Your refrigerator is more energy efficient by updating and tightening the seal.
